When We Just Don’t Know
Someone is saying they want to die.
Or, maybe they don’t know if they do.
Maybe one system member is looking for help.
Another refuses.
Someone else is panicking.
Others are crying.
The noise inside is getting louder and things are feeling trapped and chaotic.
Whether you’re dissociative, love someone who is dissociative, and/or are a clinician providing dissociative-affirming support, you might recognize the complexity of learning a system member is contemplating suicide.
You want to help.
You don’t want to hurt someone or make things worse.
You might be feeling nervous or afraid, overwhelmed or uncertain.
You notice the complexities give you too many possible directions and don’t know which is “right”.
Somewhere in the search for right answers, we lose our relational skills. Our focus moves to doing care and slips away from being care.
The Staying Human in Crisis 4-Hour Pre-Conference Intensive sits with you inside these moments when suicide gets louder and we don’t know what to do.
Traditional crisis education often teaches people to reduce risk.
This intensive asks a different question:
How do we remain deeply human when fear, uncertainty, and urgency are pulling us out of relationship?

About Our Facilitator: Ryder Fox, M.S.
Staying Human in Crisis grew out of decades spent alongside people navigating chronic illness, intense pain, crisis, grief, disability, suicidality, community organizing, advocacy, and the complicated realities of caring for one another.
Ryder Fox has developed community-based care practices through coaching, education, consultation, team-building, and providing individual medical exercise, crisis, and peer support through Stronger U and THRIVE Lifeline.
Ryder’s work envisions beyond formulas and invites people to become reflective practitioners—continually examining assumptions, practicing new ways of relating, and building care that is sustainable, humanizing, and deeply embodied.
