Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 10, 2024

Welcome to Stronger U! We’re so pleased to meet and work together with you to support your wellness journey. We provide a range of wellness services, including a peer support platform, coaching programs, workshops, and more. This privacy policy helps us to be transparent about the information that we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, and the controls we give you to access, update, and delete your information.

This Privacy Policy is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service. So, please make sure that you have read and understand our Terms of Service.

All individuals whose responsibilities include the processing of any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (“Personal Information”) on behalf of Stronger U are expected to protect that data by adherence to this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

There are two basic categories of information that we collect:

  • Information you choose to give us
  • Information we get when you use our services.

The detail below will provide you information about each of these categories.

Information You Choose to Give Us

When you interact with our services, we collect the information that you choose to share with us. For example, your name and email address.

Health Data Collection and Use: You can choose what data you want to share with us, typically during coaching assessments or during coaching conversations.

During live sessions, you can choose to have your camera and microphone on or off. Participation allows you to interact with our Coaches and your peers. We believe that shared community learning among a variety of perspectives benefits all of us, but we also understand that learning takes many forms. While we will always do our best to make a session comfortable for attendees to participate in in a variety of ways, we also validate silent reflection. Live sessions may at times be recorded for use in promotions or on-demand training. We will always announce when a session is being recorded, and sessions that include very vulnerable content in small group coaching programs will typically not be recorded, unless the group has consented to recording as a means of processing information after sessions. Such recordings will not be shared outside of the small group who have paid for the group coaching program. During all recordings, we will expect compliance with legal obligations and our code of conduct.

When you contact us for information or support, or communicate with us in any other way, we’ll collect whatever information you volunteer.

Confidentiality and Professional Records

Individual coaching sessions or one-on-one communication with Stronger U team members is 100% confidential. This is critically important to us so that you can have the safe space that you deserve to share whatever is on your mind. We will not tell people that we are working together without your explicit permission, nor will we ever share the content of our conversations, though you should feel free to discuss or share your own experiences of your coaching sessions outside of sessions. We might at times refer to anecdotes or stories from past clients or community members who have navigated similar situations because shared experiences can empower connection and growth; however, we will never share personally identifiable details or details that could be remotely used to recognize a single individual. Names remain confidential and are always protected for privacy.

While the privacy of our clients is critical, there are a few exceptions:

  • When a client is involved in group dialogue, through group coaching sessions, virtual platforms, workshops, and so on, our policy is that no attendee who is privy to the information shared by one individual may be shared outside of the group or session. However, while Stronger U adheres to this policy, we cannot guarantee that all group members will likewise. Please review our Code of Conduct for more information.
  • Confidentiality does not equal “privileged” meaning that the government and the courts do not recognize coach-client relationships as legally confidential. When our attorney informs us that pursuant to the process of law, such as through a subpoena, court order, or other process, we need to disclose information, we will do so and – if permitted by law – we will tell you first so that you can help protect your information. In any instance, we will only disclose what is necessary for the limited purpose of complying with the legal process. You agree that we can do this without any liability to you.
  • The State of Tennessee makes us mandated reporters, meaning that Stronger U is obliged to report any learned cases of abuse or neglect to or of a child or vulnerable adult. If Stronger U learns of a credible threat to a third party, then we are compelled to report that information to external authorities.
  • Stronger U is not a mandated reporter in cases of suicide or self harm. We practice non-carceral approaches to wellbeing. While our team is qualified as non-carceral suicide interventionists, your anonymity is not protected by your personal coaching relationship with us. For fully anonymous and/or immediate support we recommend that you contact our partners at THRIVE Lifeline.
